adding the extra flavours /

I usually soak oats in water or kefir and then
add coconut milk,
toasted desiccated coconut,
seeds, cinnamon, blueberries, nut butter, cacao powder or anything else I can find.
I switched the recipe a bit as I didn't have pine nuts or coriander leaves so I put in 1/2 tsp of ground coriander and I was going to
toast pumpkin
seeds for an
added crunch, but I forgot to make them.
Texture is a bit like eating very tasty mud:) but I just
added some
toasted nuts and
seeds on top for the crunch.
Here are some optional
add - in ideas, if you happen to have them on hand: quick pickled onions, your favorite sauce or dressing,
toasted nuts or
seeds.
As variations, you can
add cocoa nibs, dried coconut, dried fruit, hemp hearts, maca powder, sesame
seeds,
toasted rolled oats or quinoa flakes, different grain puffs, chia or flax
seeds, and various nut butters.
Add the sesame, pumpkin and chia
seeds to the tray with the almonds and
toast for another 5 minutes.
At the moment your roasted squash, olive (though without the olives) avocado and rocket salad, (for anyone who wants to try it page 145 of Book 1)(which we have had again tonight) is our favourite, my husband has it with slices of cooked chicken and I also
add toasted sunflower and pumpkin
seeds.
I use the powder in my morning smoothie, mix the
seeds into my granola as well as sprinkling them onto salads and
toast, and then I use the oil as a cold dressing in salads and dips so it is so easy to
add it into your diet.
I didn't follow the instructions to an exact T but it almost didn't matter: I removed all the
seeds before
toasting, I didn't fry the sauce but did
add olive oil to the sauce and left it sitting on a pan for about 15 min, and did not let it sit for 2 hours because it was already late by the time I wanted to use it for enchiladas!
I also
add toasted sesame
seeds to garnish.
For a little extra texture, flavour and protein, a bit of
toasted soy flour and a hot «cereal» mix of quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat and chia
seeds were
added to the basic flour / yeast mixture, followed by extra crunch and sweetness from granola.
Chia and hemp
seed (used in their whole / unground form) are also excellent sources of fiber that can be
added in a similar fashion (hemp
seed also works well sprinkled on salads and avocado
toast, bringing a mild nutty flavor and pleasant texture) and chia is yummy in slurry and pudding form.
I
add extra crunch by including
toasted walnuts, and then coating the buttered pan with sesame
seeds.
This simple spiced carrot soup gets
added crunch from
toasted pumpkin
seeds and a mellow flavor from a drizzle of creamy yogurt.
Dress with the dressing and
add pomegranate
seeds and the remaining 1/2 cup of
toasted pumpkin
seeds.
I didn't have pomegranate
seeds and instead of almonds I used
toasted pecans and also
added orange zest.
You can dress this up in many ways, including

To an airtight container or mason jar
add your mashed banana, rolled oats, chia
seeds and
toasted walnuts.
I used my favorite base recipe and pretty much just
added toasted sunflower
seeds.
A light
toasting of the
seeds adds even more flavour.
I didn't bother with the beans... and I
added grated carrots and thinly sliced red onion to the kale, and sprinkled
toasted pumpkin

I really like to
toast the
seeds on a baking sheet in the oven to
add some rustic and earthy flavour.
Then the cayenne -
toasted seeds on top
add a little spice and crunch.
Make sure your
toast is made of sprouted wheat for
added fiber and swap out the saltine crackers for a cracker made entirely of nuts and
seeds.
I would just note that unless you are feeding it to a toddler, don't miss out the sour cream and cayenne pepper
toasted seeds, as they really do
add an extra depth, a slight heat and crunch through ever mouthful.
