Even though our 2 Shih Tzus didn't respond to the vet's treatments for itching or numerous diet changes, we decided to try this.
It has a beautiful coat that is worth the mention as very few dogs have such an elegant coat like the Shih
Tzus do.

did not have major skin or ear problems before I put them on hypoallergenic (grain free) diets.

Tzus tend to make good apartment dogs, but
does not
do well in hot temperatures.
For most dogs, brushing once a week will
do the trick, but some smaller breeds, like Shih
Tzus or Pugs, need their teeth cleaned daily.
If your dog has a short upper or lower jaw and his teeth
do not come together (like pugs, bulldogs, shih
tzus, boxers, and other brachycephalic breeds), he breathes through an open mouth, or he has normal jaws but they are tiny and the teeth are too close together (like the Maltese, Yorkie, Miniature Pinscher, and some other small breeds) daily brushing is vital to prevent tartar buildup, gingivitis, and the eventual development of periodontal disease.

Tzus have small stomachs, however, and don't eat large amounts.
Usually, large dogs suffer from this condition, but according to a study
done by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, of 679 Shih
Tzus, 20 % were found dysplastic.
