The Wii
U has plenty of USB
ports, but they will have to specify it in the software that they can be used for
controllers for it to work.
The similar UI of the 3DS and Wii

controller, and of course, the

This would not only appease developers, who want similar button layouts for
ports, but it also allows the system to be used as a complete alternative to the Wii
U controller.
Nintendo have released a picture on their official Twitter page, which shows the adapter connecting to the Wii
U via a USB
port and four slots for the Gamecube
controllers to be plugged in.
All users have to do is attach the $ 20 - ish GameCube
controller adapter that was sold for Wii
U into the Switch dock's two front USB
ports.
It has two of Nintendo's proprietary connectors in place of the traditional NES
controller ports — the same connectors you can find at the bottom of Wii Remote, thus allowing you to use any Wii Classic
Controllers with the console, or even use the bundled NES pad as a Classic
Controller with your Wii or Wii
U instead.
Hardcore Super Smash Bros players swear by the Gamecube
controller (though the community is apparently happy enough with the Pro
Controller), and since the Wii
U doesn't have Gamecube
controller ports (because, I don't know, perhaps Nintendo thought they may have enough
controller options already), we're getting a Gamecube
controller adaptor and even a Smash Bros. themed
controller.
The Wii
U Pro solves this problem by being both a completely independent
controller and being fully rechargeable via its top - positioned charging
port.
The 3DS has an infrared
port, and so does the Wii
U controller, but nothing has been said about that.
The Switch can detect Gamecube
controllers via the Wii
U accessory when plugged into one of its USB
ports.
It is a four -
port peripheral that plugs right into the Wii
U and supports all kinds of GameCube
controllers.
BUT, the Wii
U doesn't have the GameCube
controller ports like the Wii does, so it wouldn't really matter anyway.
Not only does the game feature a much more stable framerate and a much friendlier
controller than the clunky mess that was the Wii
U Gamepad, but the fact you can now play this over-the-top action gem anywhere you feel like due to the Switch's portability is more than enough to guarantee a purchase, even if it's a bit expensive for a
port of a last - gen title.
Like the NES Classic, they connect using the Wiimote
controller port, which means you can (in theory) use them with SNES games on the Wii and Wii
U.
