Besides all the katrillion Mario games and Mario related things that will
be revealed, a few new Wii
U games will
be shown, like Wii Music
U, Wii
Party U 2, Nintendogs + Cats
U, Nintendo World, a sequel
to Nintendo Land, and Wii
U Chef, a cooking game.
It
's unlikely we see a lot of quality support from major third
parties, but if Nintendo wades into the indie scene a bit, and
is willing
to put some money on the table
to bring in some quality titles, I'd find it reassuring as a
U owner.
Some key third
party partnerships will also come
to fruition on the Wii
U, as Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2
are set
to launch before the end of 2014, and there
's the launch of the Amiibo character models.
If the third
party companies released games that
were performing according
to Wii
U's capabilities instead of missing DLC, features, online and without framerate issues (more
to do with differences in architecture than power) then public perception would
be different and games would do better.
According
to reports, Twilight Princess sold through 60 percent of its initial shipment, which
is on par with many other first
party Wii
U games.
as for them implementing what others have added Wii
U's hard drive
is small but the abilty
to use cheaper 3rd
party harddrives
is a huge bonus.
Project Cars
was one of the very first third
party games
to be announced for the Wii
U, which
was almost 3 years ago.
, but it looks like they couldn't
be bothered
to make a revolutionary game like 64 or Galaxy, got rid of the scope of the game, the orchestrated music, the art, the originality and put out a 3D land clone
to fill a gap in the Wii
U's library which, given the scarce amount of 1st
party AAA hitters, could have
been filled by MP4, Starfox, new IP.
Those who may have only played one of the 3DS or Wii
U versions would also
be making a very safe bet in this case, but ultimately, this
is just a solid choice for any
party that
is interested in seeing Link and friends (and foes) kick all kinds of ass across what
is essentially a love - letter
to fans of the series.
While the Wii
U line - up isn't exactly overflowing with new games for 2014 (according
to Nintendo
's press release, just 11 third -
party titles
are due this year) there
's no arguing about quality.
