U.S. Commerce Department figures show that
nonresidential construction added 13,300 jobs in March, offsetting the loss of 7,600 jobs lost in the residential sector as a key indicator of new
construction projects entering the development pipeline advanced for the sixth straight month.
According to American Institute of Architects, despite labor shortages and rising material costs that continue to impact the
construction sector,
construction spending for
nonresidential buildings in the
U.S. is projected to increase 4 % this year and continue at that pace of growth through 2019.
