The little outage we had last night has made up my mind for me since I know the 9700 has uma and I do not think the n900 does even though it is wifi enabled.

I think they went with the software solution on the 9900 because of the 4G radio in it, as some of the other OS7 devices that don't have the 14.4 HSPA + do support UMA as the old handsets did.

Meaning, at times when you do not have adequate service but a WiFi connect is available and active, it'll switch to UMA mode where your service is tip top.
