electoral coalition, Brexit has produced a less ambiguous effect: the party has absorbed a large portion of the former
UKIP vote, as voters on the authoritarian side of the political spectrum have migrated, or returned, to a Conservative Party that now promises concrete, credible action to regain control of the borders.
The Liberal Democrats, Greens and
UKIP would be very wary of going into a pre-election (or post election)
coalition with a Labour party that has suddenly seen the light on
electoral reform.
They will also need a system of PR if they are to have any hope in future of forming a
coalition with parties such as the Liberal Democrats or
UKIP, parties who would be in a stronger position to help under a more proportional
electoral system.
