the United Airlines award chart to determine how many miles a particular route will cost, and then either use the United website, or call United directly, to check availability and book the flight.

ANA uses different
award charts when flying their own metal versus flying with an ANA partner like
United Airlines.

awards in business or first class.
For ClassicFlight
awards, Air Canada's
award chart is usually better than many of its partners, including
United, but the
airline often passes on fuel surcharges levied by partners.
If you look at the
award booking
chart of
United Airlines, it has split South America into two different regions: Southern South America and Northern South America.
I compiled the following
chart using the actual mileage and dollar
award costs for several cities served by British Airways, American
Airlines, Delta,
United, and their partners.
Unlike Hawaiian
Airlines,
United and Delta, JetBlue does not use a region - based
award chart.
United Airlines, for example, devalued their
award chart last year but they gave us plenty of notice and warning before the changes took effect.
Like many
airline loyalty programs, Air France / KLM Flying Blue uses a region - based
award chart; regardless of your home airport in the
United States, the miles required for an
award booking will be the same.
For example,
United Airlines has very generous
award chart that permits a free stopover on all international round - trip
awards, but its MileagePlus program will sometimes charge twice as many miles for partner
awards vs. an
award on its own planes.
United has a traditional
airline award chart that charges 12,500 miles each way for a domestic economy saver
award within the lower 48 states.

award chart is not the cheapest and they do add fuel surcharges on
award tickets (except on domestic
United Airlines flights).
Airlines adjust their
award charts every few years to take into account internal cost increases, so
United's move is not uncommon.
In case you missed it yesterday,
United Airlines announced a massive devaluation to their
awards chart starting February 1, 2014.
There will now be two
award charts — one for travel on
United Airlines and one for travel on Star Alliance partners.
Airlines like Delta (Amex MR transfer partner), Southwest
Airlines (Chase UR transfer partner) and even
United (Chase UR partner) have adopted a variable
award chart for all or some of their flights.
You can fly any
airline in the Star Alliance (like
United) with ANA or Aeroplan miles, and they have some
award chart gems.
Although
United devalued their
award chart while I was «on the treadmill» racking up points & miles, and business class
awards on partner
airlines went from 100k to 140k round - trip I still felt it was a good use of points.
Awards to Hawaii are quite overpriced in comparison to other
airlines and the rest of the
United award chart.
The
airline has also created a whole new
chart for redemptions on partner
airlines (it currently uses a single
chart for all
awards, whether on
United itself or otherwise).
You either have an
award chart that lists the number of miles you need for flights between particular regions —
airlines like
United, American, and Alaska use this system.
Overview American
Airlines has been the go to frequent flyer program for any travel hacker since both
United and Delta devalued their
award chart and went to a revenue earning scheme.
The best value in the Miles & Smiles
award chart is
United Airlines» flights in North America.
Even though
United Airlines doesn't provide a standard off - peak
award chart, I find that they're pretty good about promoting their
awards with discounted rates.
Compare that to the 120,000
United miles it will cost you to fly first class one way from the US to «North Asia» on one of their partner
airlines (per their
award chart).
From the
award chart devaluations, the ever worsening customer service, elite flyers being skipped over for the complimentary upgrades, to the CFO of
United, John Rainey, calling his
airline's frequent fliers «over-entitled ``, it hasn't been pretty over at
United.
This is how I value my
United Airlines miles, and LifeMiles has a similar
award chart and partners with Star Alliance.
Though
United has majorly devalued its
award chart, the fact that it doesn't charge or pass on fuel surcharges makes MileagePlus miles one of the best ways to book many highly desirable
airlines and premium cabins that would otherwise require at least $ 500 in fees.

United Airlines, which opens up access to the huge Star Alliance network of carriers; British Airways, offering great value on short - haul nonstop flights due to their distance - based
award chart; Korean
Airlines, with amazing
award availability in their first class cabins; and Hyatt, which is widely recognized as offering some of the highest value point redemption opportunities of any hotel chain.
The MileagePlus program has separate
award charts for
United flights and partner
airlines.
In the past year, we have seen three major
airlines adjust their award charts downward, with United Airlines» moves being the most
airlines adjust their
award charts downward, with
United Airlines» moves being the most

award chart for booking on Star Alliance partners.
With recent devaluations to the
United and Delta
award charts, American
Airlines miles and US Airways miles are the most valuable miles for now.

Now, if we want to just look at the normal
award charts for the major
airlines, let's say,
United and American, it's 45,000 miles round trip to Hawaii.
United gutted its
award chart for partner First Class, so that its prices are almost double what American
Airlines charges to fly some of the nicest products in the world.
Taking a page from
United's
Award Chart Devaluation, AAdvantage
awards on American
Airlines flights will be cheaper than the above partner
awards, because let's be honest — who really wants to fly American
Airlines First Class, if they could fly in a Etihad First Class Apartment on the A380, Cathay Pacific First Class or JAL First Class instead?

award charts.

Airlines First Class is among the best in the world, and is the best value
award from the
United States in terms of duration and partner product on the new American
Airlines oneworld alliance
award chart.
