This is a delightful seasonal twist on an «Old Fashioned»
using walnuts in place of fruit.
No other nuts cause a problem, and, as I've never been able to taste any recipes
using walnuts in this manner I don't know what, if anything, I could sub for similar results.
I used walnuts in the dough and on top, along with some oats and some turbinado sugar for crunch.
I always
use walnuts in my brownies but I don't have them either.
Whenever I bake anything with bananas, I seem to always want to
use walnuts in -LSB-...]
I will also
use walnuts in my baking, especially for my Banana Nut Bread!
And you could certainly
use walnuts in place of the pecans.
Can
I use walnuts in place of the almond for the nougat layer?

Made the bread tonight as per the recipe book «ml» and «g» measurements, and subbed
in walnuts for almonds because that's what I had — Just testing a slice covered
in my home made
walnut and kidney bean spread... Yummy Think I need a touch more salt but I'm always a bit worried about over seasoning... I
used mixed herbs but think I would love to add some garlic (powder maybe) next time, and
use selected herbs rather than the commercial mix.
I
used canned great northerns and subbed dates
in for apricots, dried blueberries for raisins, and chopped
walnuts for the pumpkin seeds.
I added some mixed spice to the maple syrup and
used walnuts instead of pecans, the tastiest breakfast I've had
in a while.
I've been
using pureed toasted
walnuts in place of the hemp seeds, which works great.
The second time I soaked the dates
in boiling water to soften them and then I just
used a blender stick to blend the dates with sweet potato and maple syrup (much easier than a processor) I also made a budget version and
used regular cocoa powder, 1/2 honey 1/2 maple syrup, no pinenuts - just 1/2 cup of coconut flour and 1/2 cornflour, I also added chopped
walnuts.
We
used almonds
in the absence of
walnuts (soaked with salt,
in true Nourishing Traditions style), and topped with coconut milk, shredded coconut, pomegranate, pineapple & banana.
I haven't tried
using another nut
in these before but I imagine that almonds or
walnuts should work really well too x
In a large mixing bowl, combine chickpeas, aubergine, sun - dried tomatoes (if
using), shallots, garlic,
walnuts, chilli, dried and fresh herbs, lemon juice and zest.

I
used coconut oil instead of vegan butter
in the base, added an extra teaspoon of vanilla and half a teaspoon of chia seeds to the filling, and chopped
walnuts plus seeds to the topping.
I have a lot of

A late night trip to the supermarket was out of the question, so i ended up subbing unsoaked * gasp *
walnuts for cashews,
used the 2tsp of dijon and extra salt / nutritional yeast instead of miso, and added sliced mushrooms
in with the onions, and peas to the final sauce, garnished with sunflower seeds.
I had some black

This fall my family was gathered around my mother, whom we were caring for

substituted maple syrup for the bourbon (and
used the lesser amt of sugar so that it wouldn't be too sweet) and threw
in some chopped
walnuts... we'll see how it turns out!
You can also
use it
in oatmeal with
walnuts.
I tweaked it a little — whole wheat flour, oat bran, flax seed meal, light on sugar, added
walnuts,
used Jack Daniels because we didn't have bourbon... but oh my, they are delicious, and I especially love that they aren't sticky / gummy
in that way that banana bread so often is.
Sometimes we
use walnuts instead of pine nuts as its hard to find good quality pine nuts from Italy
in most markets.
I made my own sun - dried tomato pesto and threw
in some
walnuts for a nice crunch factor, but

In theory you could
use something else like almonds or
walnuts but will need to soak them for at least 12 hours and the filling may not be as smooth.

The nuts are super easy: Simply toast a cup and a half of assorted raw nuts (I
used almonds,
walnuts and pecans)
in a cast iron skillet.

in some warm water (they were small ones tho)-- subbed flax seed for one of the eggs — added vanilla, cinnamon, allspice — added a bit of extra
walnut — added raisins to 3 of them
This time round, I wanted to
use up some of the dried persimmons I had left
in the freezer and so I combined them with granola,
walnuts, dark chocolate chips, and unsweetened coconut flakes.
-- soak them
in warm water for about quarter of an hour or so and it'll soften them up a treat, and you can
use the water for binding I'm about to make these with a slight twist of ground almonds rather than
walnuts.
I wonder though - since usually you
use nuts often
in your recipes, wouldn't some
walnuts be a great addition to this recipe?
You could
use honey
in place of the maple syrup on the
walnuts.
Funny you mention that, back
in the day Baskin & Robins
used to make a maple
walnut sundae that was soooo good.
This ehite tahini was
used mostly to bake, to make the most wonderful mamoul & «
walnut wedding cookies», lightly dusted
in confectioner's sugar».
You can
use any nut butter you like (cashew,
walnut...), but each will result
in a different flavor.
I also
used almonds
in place of
walnuts.
Divide the
walnuts between the two baking pans, and
use the spatula to separate the
walnuts and spread out
in a single layer.
I am going to try modifying the recipe
in a healthier version
using coconut oil, agave & honey, oatmeal,
walnuts... I will keep you posted.
