The
exhibition traces the course of modern art in the
works of these artists —
from the bold, investigative realism of Winslow Homer and Thomas Eakins at the end of the nineteenth century, to the reductive
views and psychological insights of Edward Hopper and Morris Graves at mid-twentieth century.

works, with an opening reception on Friday February 16th

work on
view — the wool of the shag rugs Betbeze has distressed and distorted — makes it difficult to resist considering a further literary one, the 1870 novella Venus in Furs by the Austrian writer Leopold von Sacher - Masoch,
from whose name the term «masochism» is derived.
