The circular side button makes its return, a feature that now feels a little dated, but the same dedicated camera buttons and
volume controls sit happily on the curved edges like the X and Z5.
The screen lock button sits on the top, slightly recessed, so as not to be unlocked when you slip it into your pocket;
the volume controls sit on the right - hand side, with a shortcut «convenience» key moving from the middle towards the bottom.

Traditionalists will be annoyed to find the
volume knob
sitting on the console next to the Mazda Connect
controls, but Mazda has always found odd spots to place the
volume knob.
Honda's latest touchscreen infotainment system
sits dead center in the dash and it's pretty easy to use, but the lack of a
volume control knob can be a bit annoying.
For reasons I don't particularly understand, the
volume control for the infotainment system is
sat pointing upwards, just to the right of the gear selector.
