comedies.

As I was walking into the
movie theater to watch The Monuments Men, I asked my friend who was with me a question that had been plaguing me about the
movie since I first saw the advertisements: Is this
movie supposed to be a
comedy, a drama, a
war movie, or something in between?
Another impressive aspect of this year's numbers is that the billion was reached via a wide array of genres —
war movies (American Sniper), Fantasy (The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies), disaster
movie (San Andreas), post-apocalypitic thriller (Mad Max: Fury Road, and R - rated
comedy (Get Hard) among them.
In between knocking out «Star
Wars» and «Star Trek»
movies, JJ Abrams found time to produce this
comedy drama created by «Almost Famous» director Cameron Crowe.
The final summer
movie previewed was «
War Dogs» (Aug. 19), a
comedy - drama from director Todd Phillips, who was joined onstage by producer Bradley Cooper.
This month's list includes
comedies starring Melissa McCarthy and Jane Fonda, a thriller with Margot Robbie and the latest «Star
Wars»
movie.
Because Wednesday, Nov. 23, will be a day well spent at the cinema, where four potentially excellent
movies will be released; the Robert Zemeckis World
War II thriller «Allied,» Warren Beatty's romance -
comedy «Rules Don't Apply,» Disney's animated «Moana,» and a profane nightcap of «Bad Santa 2.»
A
movie with «
war» in its title going the
comedy route is a risky proposition, and though this isn't devoid moments of weakness, the continued expansion of a world parallel to ours allows them to pass quickly.
It is not your typical Vietnam
War movie and it does offer more than Robin Williams» fast, streaming brand of
comedy (if that has put you off).
It was the same trailer — the one that also played before
movies I had seen, curiously and indiscriminately peppered before blockbusters like Star
Wars or seasonal
comedies like A Bad Moms Christmas or indie darlings like Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
