While R&D 1 took their creation in a whole new direction, popular developer Treasure (creators of titles such as Gunstar Heroes and Astro Boy: The Omega Factor) had the opportunity to create a more traditional
Wario title for the Nintendo GameCube.

WarioWare is already a series that has appeared on the Game Boy Advance twice, the GameCube once, the Nintendo DS twice, DSi once, the Wii once and of course was rebranded as Game & Wario, which released on the Wii U, but it has been nearly 4 years since we had a new wacky
Wario title and smartphones is an ideal platform.

It's not what we expected, since it's not as good as the
Wario Ware
titles we've played before, but still is a great option for those who enjoyed Nintendo Land.

While its use of the «Land»
title is up for debate, considering it makes use of neither
Wario nor Tatanga — who does as he pleases — Super Mario 3D Land's status as a highly enjoyable Mario game on the go is much more concrete.
My digital purchases so far have been only Virtual Console games and indie
titles, except for Wii Fit U (free), Wii Sport Club (too lazy to wait for physical release) and Game &
Wario (club nintendo platinum)

Overall, Super Mario Land was a successful
title that spawned several sequels including Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and

If you've seen the introductions to the GameCube Mario Sports
titles developed by Camelot, it's pretty obvious that both
Wario & Waluigi, when paired together, are quite the comical, sneaky, «evil» duo.
Think about Bowser and
Wario in the next «Mario & Luigi»
title!

Wario were originally listed as «launch window»
titles.

Again, this entry in the Super Mario Land series went on to start it's own spin - off series with the
Wario Land games, spanning multiple
titles across the next set of handhelds and even consoles.
Until they take that next step these two will ALWAYS be «not up to snuff» for Smash Bros. since they don't stand out in their franchise's main
titles, while the side games they COULD represent are ALREADY represented several times over with Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser,
Wario, Donkey Kong, Rosalina etc..
Wario Ware is the perfect game to launch with the machine, much like DS (unless you live in America and it wasn't a launch
title owned so bad), it showed just what sort of wacky new things could be done on the system right off the bat in quick random succession.
Wario took the reins this year as three major
titles were released under his name.

title like Pikmin did?
The NES games were pretty standard with Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid standing out as some of the better
titles, but it was the GBA list that made me most happy with
titles like
Wario Land 4, Fire Emblem, and F - Zero: Maximum Velocity.
Nintendo typically launches a system with a flagship Mario
title, but there have been exceptions (Virtual Boy got
Wario, GameCube got Luigi, Wii got Zelda).
You know how to dodge this, it's been a standard boss attack in every 2D Mario game in history now and has even made its way into the 3D
titles like Super Mario 3D Land, and spinoffs like the first
Wario Land game.
It seems that a level of inspiration for Game &
Wario was of course from the old «Game & Watch»
titles - this is indicated by the similarities in the logo, and of course the name.
It's just unfortunately a set of ideas included in a game that doesn't really make the most of them, or have a design anywhere near as competent as a
Wario Land
title.
Similar examples to this include the well known case of Super Mario Bros 2 (where a much more interesting game called Doki Doki Panic was turned into a Mario
title instead of the somewhat samey Lost Levels), and the less known case of
Wario World.
Wario Land 2 was originally released for Game Boy Color in 1999 and is now available as a Virtual Console
title for the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS.
Nintendo's sequel to it's almost
Wario Ware - like classic
title challenge game feels like a direct continuation.
Perhaps one day,
Wario will get another shot in a major Mario series
title or an RPG, where he can show what he's made of.
As with a number of other
titles Nintendo has brought to the DS, the majority of the controls are activated by the touch screen only, with the exception of moving
Wario around (including crouching and jumping), which can be accomplished by the control pad, or using the similarly laid out A, B, X, and Y buttons.
The year was 2007, three years since
Wario had been playable in action in Super Mario 64 DS, four years since his last solo effort in
Wario World, and six years since his last
Wario Land
title appeared at the dawn of the Game Boy Advance.
Before we get to
Wario's next starring role, however, November of 2006 saw
Wario return to his roots in a most unexpected way as Yoshi's Island DS, the sequel to the 1995 Super NES
title of similar nomenclature, hit shelves.
The diversity and inventiveness of the game's presentation is much appreciated and reminds me more than a little of that found in other Nintendo games such as the
Wario Ware and Rhythm Tengoku
titles.
Wario may have been left out of the Nintendo 64's premiere
title, Super Mario 64 (and he wasn't alone — just ask Luigi), but he got the last laugh when players discovered that launching a rocket at Mario's face in a Mt. Rushmore - like setting would turn the face of the mountain into
Wario's wicked visage.
But when it came time to flesh out his new rival's storyline in a comic
titled «Mario vs.
Wario,» published within the pages of Nintendo Power magazine, it seemed Nintendo was ready to abandon that premise.
Long before games like Grand Theft Auto or
titles which allowed you to decide how much of a good guy or bad guy you wanted to be, Nintendo used
Wario Land to appeal to gamers who wanted to be the bad guy.
But though games such as Teleroboxer, Red Alert, and even Mario Clash did little to excite gamers, many feel that there was at least one diamond in the rough of the Virtual Boy, the creatively -
titled Virtual Boy
Wario Land.

The two games for the Nintendo Wii this month are a couple of NES Virtual console
titles in NES Play Action Football and
Wario's Woods.
So why the Wii U installment,
titled Game &
Wario, decided to ditch that idea in favor of a small handful of slightly larger mini-games with little replay value is anyone's guess.
