It's been so beautifully sunny and
warm in England recently, which meant that it was time to really get into summer cooking — beautiful salads, cold wild rice and quinoa dishes, grilled summer veggies with delicious dips, mountains of guacamole with crudités, so many
fruit smoothies, raw desserts and
bowls of fresh berries.
Each fall, as soon as the Santa Anna winds subside here in Los Angeles and brisk weather arrives, I think about my autumns in New England and want to cuddle up with a
warm bowl of
fruit crisp, with vanilla ice cream melting into the tangy filling.
In the summer, a smoothie
bowl (like my Orange Pistachio Almond
Bowl one make with Almond Breeze Chocolate Almondmilk) or cold Greek yogurt and
fruit are just fine, but in the winter, I need and easy, quick breakfast that will fuel me through my workout and
warm me up from the inside.
And while winter weather is coming in, fig season is going out so we thought we would capture the last of this delicious
fruit by pairing it with a
warming bowl of oat porridge so you can start the day feeling nourished and
warm!
It doesn't make an appearance unless you have
warm weather, a grill, and enough friends present to make a dent in a huge
bowl of
fruit.
Serve

bowl with cinnamon, honey, greek yoghurt or
fruit.
Once the weather gets
warmer and more
fruits and veggies are in season, my
warm, comforting
bowls of soup will morph into hearty salads that I can make first thing in the morning and will still be fresh for lunch at work.

bowls, with yogurt, frozen berries or
warmed berries, you get my drift hey
Serve the porridge in your choice of
bowl and garnish with your choice of
fruits, nuts and hemp / chia seeds and enjoy it
warm.
For a
warmer choice, oatmeal or oat bran
bowl topped with cinnamon and fresh
fruit.
There is nothing more comforting to me than a
bowl of
warm oats with a smattering of seeds and nuts or nut butter plus a little
fruit, especially on a cold weekend morning.
To serve, scoop low - fat frozen yogurt into individual serving
bowls and spoon
warm fruit over top.
Mix the rum or apple juice with the dried
