I had a few requests for a Whole
Wheat version so I baked my heart out one weekend and made this Whole Wheat Slow Cooker Bread, also made in 2 hours!
Not exact matches
It's not gluten free,
so I knew I had to make a
version of it that would be friendly to those like me (not intolerant but I try to keep it out of my diet whenever possible) or anyone else allergic to
wheat products.
The 9 litre
version easily hold 5kgs of vital
wheat gluten flour,
so they are plenty big enough.
I wanted to make burrito - sized
versions of these but of course they only had white flour tortillas at the store
so we got smaller whole
wheat tortillas (I know, I really need to start making my own tortillas).
I even gained some confidence to play around with the recipe a little and
so today I'm sharing a whole
wheat chocolate chip
version of her best buttermilk pancakes.
I even found a whole
wheat version at Whole Foods
so now I can eat it even more regularly and not feel a bit guilty about it.
I'm a big fan of farina (the
wheat version of grits, which are made from corn) and I love all things corn,
so I was intrigued.
In order to make her feel included, I modified the recipe as follows (IN CAPS): * Unsalted butter (for pan)- NO BUTTER * 1 (1 - pound) loaf country - style or «peasant» white bread, sliced 1/4» - thick - WHOLE
WHEAT BREAD * 3 cups heavy cream - SKIM MILK * 6 ounces milk chocolate, coarsely chopped - SLIM FAST CHOCOLATE PROTEIN SHAKE MIX * 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped - DITTO * 1 tablespoon vanilla extract - SAME * 9 large eggs - EGG BEATERS WHITES * 2 cups whole milk - WATER * 1 cup sugar - SPLENDA GRANULATED SWEETENER * 1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt - LEFT OUT * 1/2 cup hazelnuts, coarsely chopped - SAME Well, we were all loving ours but Aunt Marge wasn't
so thrilled with her healthy
version.
Try the whole -
wheat version,
so good, or you can even try quinoa or rice pasta if you want to go a healthier route!
My boyfriend had to give up
wheat and this was his favorite recipe,
so I have a vested interest in creating a gluten - free
version Will update here upon success.
So for my
version, I layered American cheese with super soft spicy scrambled eggs, Mexican chorizo (not to be confused with Spanish chorizo), another layer of American cheese, and stuffed the whole ensemble in a package of whole -
wheat hawaiian buns.
While they have similar calorie counts, whole -
wheat versions have more fiber than white,
so you fill up faster and eat less.
They also taste similar to the grain free ginger snaps I make myself,
so buying a boxed
version made with
wheat flour on occasion is not going to all of a sudden cause my children to prefer the processed cookies over my own.
Your Cauliflower Mash looks
so yummy:) I follow the
Wheat Belly lifestyle an usually make the Mashed Cauliflower and thought that was the ultimate
version to Mashed potatoes!!!
I like making homemade seitan (
so I can make a no added sodium
version) and I haven't found any source to give an answer on
wheat gluten affecting igf - 1 levels.
I have now perfected the whole
wheat version,
so today I wanted to share!
The main ingredients are
wheat flour,
wheat bran, meat and bone meal, milk, and beef fat (preserved with BHA, a known carcinogen) plus
so this is my
version which I think is much healthier and much cheaper.
