Although I don't fly United very often (mostly because
when I do I deal with nasty / clueless employees or my
travel reservations simply aren't honored), I rank their frequent flyer miles as the most valuable mileage currency out there thanks to low fees
on award tickets, the ability to book one - way awards and great
airline partners in Star Alliance.
The same goes for redeeming American miles
on Oneworld
partner airlines when travel remains wholly within certain countries.
Keep in mind that Alaska Mileage Plan also collects a separate $ 12.50 charge for each direction of

You can get a lot of value out of your Starpoints
when you transfer them to
airline partners, especially
when booking premium cabin
travel on long - haul flights.
Singapore's KrisFlyer is an excellent program, especially
when flying
on Singapore
Airlines but it also requires many miles for
travel on its
partners, and adds fuel surcharges.
But
when paired with Chase's Ultimate Rewards program, which offers instantaneous point transfers to a host of
airlines, hotels and other transportation
partners, and a 20 percent discount
on travel booked directly through the Chase portal, this card is hard to beat.
Even
when you're not
traveling on Hawaiian, make sure to book with their
partner airlines so you can still accumulate miles.
When you transfer your points to
airline partners, you can score incredibly low - cost domestic
travel through British Airways, which offers 9,000 mile roundtrips
on short flights, and Southwest, a perennial favorite for its great service.
And,
when you
travel beyond the Qantas network, you'll earn Qantas Points
on eligible flights * with over 50
partner airlines and affiliates.

You do need to earn a few extra miles
