While your weapon selection in itself is slim, there's a variety of different ways to customize
Kratos and Atreus in gems that are socketed into their weapons and armor.

while there's an element of tradition and rite of passage in how
Kratos teaches Atreus to hunt and kill (tapping into our nostalgia for an already existing imagery), the fact that so many of us saw ourselves in these characters is alarming.
While previous games focused on the power fantasy and rage of
Kratos, the addition of Atreus into the game alters the narrative tone, but there are gameplay implications as well.
We knew
Kratos would be a very popular character to play as by a wide arrange of different players, so we wanted him to be a simple character to pick up for beginners
while having a lot of depth for more advanced players to explore.
While the unarmed attack itself is not really anything special, it does have the ability to disarm opponents at times, leaving one of four weapons available for
Kratos to use temporarily — swords, spears, shields and hammers.
But it soon turns out,

While you don't have the axe,
Kratos can fight with his hands.

Kratos, you can enhance ranged, close, rage and shield attacks,
while Atreus has trees for magic and expert combat.
Kratos may fight more consistently large bosses, but does he ever do so
while grinding on a spining top?
While they are an interesting way to mix up gameplay and are sometimes required to advance in the game, they ultimately are not as effective as
Kratos» blades.
With this kind of mentality,
Kratos has a vulnerability that we have not seen in his character, as he tries to handle his past
while still looking out for his sons future.
While no specifics were talked about, like levels or what
Kratos will be doing in the demo, it is still awesome to know that some of us will be playing GoW III in June.
