There is, however, no real contradiction here because
Whiteheads concept of nature has nothing in common with that attacked by Merleau - Ponty — the mechanist view expressed by Descartes — and, consequently, Whitehead's
notions of «object» and «causality» are altogether different from their counterparts in the mechanist scheme.
