women continue to fare better in
documentary work, Martha Lauzen's 2015 study shows that only 37 % of
documentary producers, 34 % of executive producers, 29 % of directors, 29 % of writers, 23 % of editors, and 13 % of cinematographers are
women.101 When it comes to the industry recognizing and
awarding female documentarians for their directorial works,
women are at a complete disadvantage.
