of Congregation for the Doctrine
of the
Faith - the church's doctrinal watchdog group, and Archbishop Peter Sartain
of Seattle, who is charged with bringing the nuns back in line with the U.S.
Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Vatican.
«Increasing numbers
of women face a double blow today — violent attacks against them because
of their Christian
faith, and because they are
women,» said Kate Ward, an organizer
of an international
conference that met last month to seek answers to the growing problem.
