The number of
women taking maternity leave in the United States has not changed over the last two decades, according to a new study, even as the national economy has grown and new family - leave policies have been implemented in three states.
The project team of Professor Raffaella Ocone, Dr Liz Elvidge, and Suzanne Massie met with Heads of Department (HODs), who confirmed that promotion was based on research, not teaching, and on the number of publications, which affects
women taking maternity leave and those coming from industry.
The research, from Ohio State University, found that an average of 273,000
women take maternity leave every month.

At a recent talk at the University of Ottawa by Cynthia Petersen, the Law Society of Upper Canada Discrimination and Harassment Counsel, raised the idea that

maternity leave are severely disadvantaged upon their return, unlike their male counterparts who

These are returning professional internships, which act as a bridge back into senior roles for experienced professionals who have
taken extended career breaks — in many cases
women returning to work after
