There is no basis for your conclusion in this regard thus you have faith that
Atheism will produce a better and more peaceful
world than any god based ism.
Atheism is growing in this country and around the
world because people are better educated and informed
than at any point in human history.
But back to point,
atheism gets much more representation in NYC and the
world than religion does.
Atheism is for people that want to be right about everything and can't admit there might be more to life
than their limited perception of the
world.
If the overal outcome is not positive,
than atheism (which doesn't push particular values) might come out neutral and thereby be better for people / the
world / the poor or whomever.
Using the same tools as van Buren, he has declared for overt
atheism rather
than the death of God, and also, with Feuerbach, has chosen the historical fate of man and his freedom in this
world, to salvation and the next.
I don't expect the church to change it's positions — they have what they think is wrong (abortion, same gender marriage,
atheism)-- but to treat it properly, as everyone's choice, rather
than something they can force the
world to change — that is all ANYONE should ever expect.
Atheism does contribute the belief in appreciating the
world we have, rather
than put it down and say things will be better after we die.
