It's not an M3 - baiting
XE SVR, nor are Jaguar gunning for the likes of the Mercedes - AMG E63 with a V8 - powered XF.
A 360kW version of Jaguar's blown V8 has long been considered the most likely candidate to power the XE R, with the 400kW V8 reserved for
the XE SVR to battle BMW's M3 and the Mercedes - AMG C 63.
Also a product of Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations, the tamer version of the Project 8 (some say it will be dubbed
XE SVR) manages to still look menacing with its big wheels, low rider height and what looks like an interpretation of the humongous air ducts which define the be-spoilered, pumped - up limited - edition monster.
Actually, Car And Driver says that Jaguar is already pondering
an XE SVR, but a final decision has yet to be made.

The Jaguar
XE SVR is not happening, folks.
Visually,
the XE SVR will boast an aggressive body kit consisting of bespoke front bumper and grille, flared wheel arches, and redesigned side skirts.
With 489 horsepower at its disposal,
the XE SVR will need about four seconds to sprint from naught to 62 mph, while top speed will be electronically limited at 155 mph.
With the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division having already launched a couple of cars, it was only natural to assume that Jaguar would develop
an XE SVR to go against the BMW M4 and Mercedes - AMG C63.
Not exact matches
It's the work of Jaguar Land Rover's increasingly busy Special Vehicle Operations division (SVO), best known for
SVR versions of road - going Jaguar and Range Rover models and limited - run specials such as the F - type - based Project 7 and the
XE - derived Project 8.
Other than the Range Rover Sport
SVR and the upcoming Defender Final Edition (name not confirmed), SVO is expected to come out with their edition of the Jaguar
XE next.

XE with the F - Type
SVR's carbon ceramic brakes complete with silicon nitride ceramic wheel bearings, they added a rear differential cooler to the mostly rear - biased all - wheel drive system, also beefing up the adjustable suspension with stiffer springs.

XE is reportedly set to arrive by early 2016, about one year after the regular model goes on sale.
One at a time, the
XE and F - Type
SVR take in their runs before the Formula E race car comes into the picture.
While well - suited to battle with the M3 and C63, the
XE - R would also allow for an even faster
SVR version from JLR's own tuners, Special Vehicle Operations.
Speaking of Murray, Jaguar has also created a promotional video featuring the tennis player and a number of Jag models, specifically the
XE, F - Type
SVR, and the company's new Formula E race car.
Jaguar's upcoming BMW 3 Series fighter, the
XE, is reportedly getting a high - performance, supercharged
SVR version.
Expect to see more
SVR badges roll out across the Jaguar Land Rover range, including the Evoque, Jaguar
XE and next XF.

A faster, lighter version of Range Rover Sport
SVR would be the SUV equivalent of the Jaguar
XE SV Project 8.
Word is that Jaguar has V8 - powered R and
SVR versions of its
XE and XF, and has just released its V8 - powered XJ models, closing the gap to the Germans via the energetic 5.0 - litre V8 already in use in the F - TYPE R.
However, there's an expectation Jaguar will build a two - door version of the
XE to produce a mid-size coupe to rival the BMW M4 and Audi RS 5, which could jump the sedan in the queue for
SVR treatment.
The hood bulges upwards a bit, possibly making room for an even bigger engine for an
SVR version of the
XE.
