We've
got our best look yet at the 2016 Jaguar
XE sports sedan with this front end shot, and this photo adds a crucial detail that wasn't included in the teaser Jaguar issued earlier this year at the Geneva auto show: an «S» badge in the grille.
But before we
get carried away it's worth noting the E-PACE it's not based on the same aluminium - rich platform that underpins Jaguar's F - PACE and the
XE and XF sedans, and nor is it built in the UK.

get an Audi tattoo or name your kids S4 and S5, then you should test - drive all the cars we listed here: the BMW 340i, Mercedes C43, Lexus IS 350 F Sport and the Jag
XE 35t R - Sport.
Jaguar is giving car shoppers the opportunity to
get behind the wheel of its new
XE sedan before it's available for sale.
But it does have the sort of top - end pace and smoothness that the diesels do not, so if you're less bothered about running costs and more concerned by
getting the most refined
XE experience possible, it's the one to go for.
All
XEs are rear - wheel drive as standard, although the 178bhp 2.0 d also
gets the option of Jaguar's intelligent all - wheel - drive system.
Saying that, even the entry level
XE, with an auto and a 197bhp 2.0 - litre petrol engine, returns just 45.1 mpg on the combined cycle — which means
getting 40mpg in real life will be doing well.
The Jaguar
XE SV Project 8 will be available next year in the U.S., and we'll
get just 300 of them.
The back of the new
XE can be made to easily step out by disabling the traction and stability control and
getting a bit carried away with the throttle on corner exit.
The XF and
XE also
get the Configurable Dynamics system as a standalone feature, while new safety features include Forward Traffic Detection, Forward Vehicle Guidance, and Blind Spot Assist.
But even though the
XE 35t has plenty of punch, I found that in certain situations there can be an annoying amount of lag time before it
gets up and goes.
In Europe, both the small
XE sedan and larger XF
get both engines while the F - PACE only gains the more powerful 184kW 2.0 - litre turbo and the diesel.
XE variant
gets 75 PS diesel engine tune while the others
get 90 PS of power.
This Tata Zest Revotron 1.2 T
XE is the entry level variant, but it still
gets some important comfort features.
However, we seem to be experiencing a change in the wind in the car industry: not only have the Cadillac ATS and Jaguar
XE dethroned the BMW when it comes to a being dynamic yet comfortable, but the new Audi A4's
getting stuck in the mix as well.
Buyers opting for the base Stanza model, the
XE version, will
get good value for the dollar.
What I don't
get though is they put the very distinctive Alfa Romeo front end on it, then the doors look like they came off the 3 - series and the tail lights oculd have come from an Audi, Jag
XE, Kia / Hyundai, they just look boring.
With an all - new Jaguar
XE on the way to compete with other compact sports cars like the Porsche Boxster and Cayman, things should
get even better.
The
XE Portfolio and XF Portfolio variants
get the higher state of tune with 247 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 365 Nm @ 1,200 - 4,500 rpm.
Miller refrained from unveiling any actual details, but he suggested the
XE will
get more body styles in the future.

get a whole lot quicker, as the Cat Badge is gearing up to release its highly impressive
XE SV Project 8.
Jaguar's upcoming BMW 3 Series fighter, the
XE, is reportedly
getting a high - performance, supercharged SVR version.
With the F - Type Project 7 gaining in value since its launch, it might be best to
get your hot
XE right now.
The 340 - hp V6 will still be offered in the
XE, at least for now, but it will no longer offer the most oomph that buyers will be able to
get in Jag's smallest sedan.
Step into the least expensive Jaguar
XE compact sports sedan, and you'll
get Luxtec faux leather in black, tan or gray, dual - zone climate control, rear - passenger vents, 17 - inch alloy wheels and moonroof.
While the 2018 numbers have yet to be released as of this writing, the 2017 Jaguar
XE with its turbo - diesel engine was able to
get up to 42 mpg highway and 32 mpg city.
Jaguar can
get away with this in the cheaper
XE.
We
got an opportunity to text the
XE, XJ flagship sedan and the F - Pace.
The major caveat with the Mondeo Vignale is its price; for a similar amount of money (around # 30,000), you could
get yourself a BMW 3 Series Sport or a Jaguar
XE Prestige.
Both the
XE and XF gain all three units, while the F - Pace (pictured above)
gets the diesel and more potent petrol.
