Motorola has not made any information available with regard to
XOOM sales.
While we argued that recent
XOOM sales estimates didn't render the XOOM a flop, if Motorola did in fact build nearly a million tablets and sell less than 100,000 units, «flop» might become an accurate descriptor.
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek commented in a research note: «

What makes
the XOOM sales figure look even more pitiable is the fact that this marked a deterioration in its demand, as the tablet found 440,000 buyers in the quarter prior to the last.

the XOOM sales really pick up.
The XOOM Family Edition can be considered a desperate attempt on part of Motorola to bring some respectability to
the XOOM sales figures which has never really taken off in a big way.
The iPad 2, which is thinner, lighter and faster than its predecessor and includes dual cameras for video chat via Apple's FaceTime application, is expected to hamper
Xoom sales because it is priced the exact same way the first iPads were priced.

Motorola Mobility chairman and chief executive Sanjay Jha said Monday that the US telecom maker is pleased with early
sales of the
Xoom, its rival to Apple's iPad.
The PlayBook goes on
sale in Canada just days after the launch of the Motorola android powered
Xoom tablet and three weeks after the launch of the Apple iPad 2 tablet.
The Motorola
Xoom from Motorola Mobility was crowned the best gadget at the Consumer Electronics Show in January and went on
sale in February.
The Motorola
Xoom is currently the best Android Tablet so far of 2011, but did not get the kind of
sales the company was expecting.
However, its yet unknown when the W - Fi only
XOOM will go on
sale.
However, it not yet known if Apple is also seeking an injunction against the
sale of
XOOM as well.
Motorola has been the first to come up with the
XOOM tablet running the tablet centric Android 3.2 Honeycomb though it never really got off to a start as far as its
sales is concerned.
The Digitimes article is light on specifics, but it seems the poor
sales of the
XOOM have other tablet makers spooked - and the lack of tablet applications and missing features of the
XOOM at launch (the non-functional microSD card is apparently Google's fault) have made for an unstable ecosystem for Android tablets.
Carphone Warehouse has been running a tablet discount promotion for quite some time, with the
sales listing now updated to feature the smaller version of Motorola's
XOOM 2 tablet in the PRICE CRASH SPECTACULAR.
However, coming back to the
XOOM, the price cut can be considered a desperate attempt on part of the company to boost
sales of the Honeycomb tablet.

XOOM's dismal
sales story though isn't forthcoming with any hard figures.
Deutsche Bank is reporting
sales at about a hundred thousand
XOOMs.
Deutsche Bank isn't the only one painting a gloomy picture of the Motorola
XOOM as Pacific Crest analyst James Faucette also claiming
sales of the
XOOM have been disappointing so far.
Motorola has announced the launch of its
XOOM tablet PC in Canada where it will go on
sale this April.
The unannounced, trial
sale last Wednesday by Motorola to their
Xoom WiFi is a good test on how people will accept this product.
The response also did not elaborate on why the
Xoom is being shipped with the 1x voice calling channel activated since tablets are usually shipped with data only hardware. This is not unprecedented for Verizon, as it has previously made arbitrary distinctions between hardware and software in order to exercise control over device
sales and pricing, such as the Bluetooth profile incident with the Motorola V710.
With
sales of Motorola's
Xoom sluggish at best, the BlackBerry Playbook too idiosyncratic for most and the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tantalisingly conspicuous by its absence, Asus looks to steal a march on the competition with its Eee Pad Transformer TF101.
Since it's launch, the
Xoom has had disappointing
sales.
Despite being updated to Android 3.1,
XOOM has suffered from extremely lackluster
sales, especially compared to Apple's much more successful iPad.
While still lacking sd card support, the latest attempt to spark
sales is an advertisement featuring Kindle on the
Xoom.
Although Google gave Motorola a lead in using Honeycomb for the
Xoom tablet,
sales were never particularly strong.
Motorola has not revealed official
sales figures for the
XOOM.
Dow Jones» Shara Tibken notes in her wire report that Apple's original iPad sold 300,000 units on its first day of availability alone, rendering
sales of the
XOOM less than impressive.
Lost amidst the announcement of the new tablets is the fate of the original
Xoom, still for
sale at Verizon.

Yet slow
sales of Android «Honeycomb» tablets such as the Motorola
Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Toshiba Thrive have tempered enthusiasm for the casting of yet another fish into the increasingly crowded Android tablet sea.

XOOM did not burn up the

Preliminary reports out of Germany see Apple being unsuccessful in its attempt to ban
sales of Motorola's
Xoom tablet in Germany.
The
Xoom is expected to go on
sale as early as next month.
