While it is part of the Xenoblade leg of the long running
Xeno series, Xenoblade Chronicles X, the two games are entirely separate stories.
What it is: The latest game in
the Xeno series and the spiritual successor to cult Wii game Xenoblade Chronicles.
I think that they've chosen a great art direction that captures the essence of
the Xeno series, past and present.
Story wise, it could be the lightest on the cerebral story
the xeno series is known for, falling below series peak xenoblade (Gottfreid Leibnitz's monadology, functional programming with monads, divine geometry, pythogorean religion, and pretty much anything else that uses the monad as a concept).
The fact is though, there are a huge number of people who either don't have a Wii U or have never heard of
the Xeno series (blasphemy!).
As a huge fan of
the Xeno series of games and Xenoblade Chronicles (which I spent around 120 hours on my first playthrough), I am really looking forward to how this game will play out.
Possibly unlikely given the nature of the entire
Xeno series, but that doesn't mean we won't be getting a potentially awesome RPG regardless.
Oh, and btw, Xenoblade 2, the game you claimed «isn't a masterpiece», just became the best - selling game in Monolith's
Xeno series history, and it's got plenty of high - scoring rave reviews backing it up.
