Several progenitor
cells,
cells that appear to be committed to their fate but not
yet fully differentiated, have been shown to be capable
of dedifferentiating into a
different cell type; this process is called transdetermination.
While cancerous
cells have a variety
of different causes, excessive alcoholic intake can increase the risk
of various
types of cancers, including neck, liver, breast, and colorectal, and may play a role in the development
of many other
types of cancers, though the link has
yet to be proven.
