Council believes that discretionary funding is vital to supporting community - based organizations that enhance the quality of life in New York City's neighborhoods, in ways that can not be captured by traditional RFPs (little leagues, soup kitchens,
youth arts groups, etc.).
The Call is open to a wide range of people and organisations, including mediators and practitioners of science communication; STEM festival organisers; universities and institutes of technology, science centres, museums and other cultural attractions; artists; educators; industry professionals and academics in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM);
arts agencies; production companies; schools; local authorities (libraries, city / county
councils etc.);
youth clubs; community groups; and research institutes.
While none of the original performers are still with the cast, Bob Cilman, the choir's demanding conductor and the Executive Director of the Northampton
Arts Council, is still pushing the current participants to take on new and often challenging musical styles, including songs from the alternative rock band Sonic
Youth and soul singer James Brown.
This panel included Darren Henley, chief executive of
Arts Council England, Stephen Broad, head of research and knowledge exchange at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Jem Shuttleworth of Music Mark, which represents music services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and Matt Griffiths, chief executive of national charity

Meanwhile, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey hubs are working with
Arts Council - funded Musiko Musika to establish multi-cultural community
youth ensembles in each location.
