Announcement of the Odyssey Award (including any Honor titles in addition the winner) is part of the Youth Media Awards event slated for 8 am Monday, 12 February, in Denver.

A good portion of my travel in 2009 took the form of various public speaking events in 5 U.S. states and 3 overseas countries, including (but not limited to) the LA Times Travel Show, the Tucson Book Festival, the Kansas Book Awards, the DO Lectures (in Wales), the Chatwin Prize festival (in Italy), and the 100th anniversary celebration of worldwide youth hosteling (pictured above, in Boston).

San Marcos High School senior Layla Landeros won the Harriet Miller Youth Leadership Award for her impressive resume, which includes being president of the AAPLE Academy (Accelerated Academic Program for Leadership and Enrichment), Kids Helping Kids» director of the VIP event for the fundraising benefit concert, and a varsity cheerleader.

The event also includes the 2015 Volunteer of the Year, the Harriet Miller Youth Leadership and the 2015 Citizen of the Year Awards.
