When the first screens of a new
Zelda game were shown when the Gamecube was announced, fanboys around the world cried in joy.
As it's been teased for awhile now, the next Legend of
Zelda game was shown off for Wii U a bit as well.
Not exact matches
A variety of
games were shown: a coming «Legend of
Zelda»
game, a new «Super Mario»
game, and a few others.
Second, there
's a fan - voted award for Most Anticipated
Game, and The Legend of
Zelda for Wii U (which completely stole the
show last year)
is nowhere to
be found.
In terms of sound, the
game retains the
Zelda staple of not having any voice acting for main characters, but there
is a slightly annoying voiceover which
shows us why they usually stick to text.
The Legend of
Zelda: Skyward Sword and Mario Kart 7 will
be just some of the
games on
show at the Nintendo Booth during EB
Games Expo 2011; James Kozanecki...
Like previous The Legend of
Zelda games, players will find weapons and other items in treasure chests, and better yet, the treasure chest opening animation from the
games will
be shown when a playable character opens one.
Nintendo might
be stereotyped as constantly relying on Mario and
Zelda games to headline their
games consoles, but the last few years have
shown them to also experiment with new genres and styles of gaming.
If Nintendo wants to appeal to more than just fanboys like myself, they need to
show that
Zelda isn't a just another Nintendo kiddie looking
game.
The trailer
shows a new 3D Mario
game, Skyrim: Definitive Edition, The Legend of
Zelda: Breath of the Wild, NBA 2K17, and what appear to
be updated versions of Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon running on the console.
It
is also possible for this to
be footage of a visual demo instead of a real
game, much like the
Zelda demo which
was shown off during the Wii U's reveal.
Nintendo
showed off the cartoony strategy
game «Pikmin 3,» anti-gravity racer «Mario Kart 8,» 2 - D platformer «Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze,» 3 - D platformer «Super Mario 3D World,» slick action sequel «Bayonetta 2» and a speedier rendition of «The Legend of
Zelda: The Wind Waker» for the Wii U. For
gamers who couldn't make it to E3, the titles will
be on display at more than 100 Best Buy Co. stores in North America this week.
Nintendo has announced The Legend of
Zelda will come to both Wii U and NX next year and will
be the only playable
game on the E3
show floor.
And don't
be fooled by the «
Zelda 2» name: this
is a different title than Wind Waker HD and you'll note
shows a separate pre-order page for these two games. While the new
Zelda game may not have an official name, you can certainly help brainstorm by checking out our latest giveaway.
We can probably expect to learn more about the
game during Nintendo's E3 2015 presentations, though — unlike The Legend of
Zelda Wii U, which
is skipping this year's
show and very unlikely to release this year.

A new
Zelda title dubbed «Shard of Nightmare»
was recently spotted on a list of
games rumored to
be headed to E3, so we'll have our eyes peeled to see if they happen to bring anything regarding our favorite princess and her hero to the
show.
The Legend of
Zelda: Skyward Sword, Mario Sports Mix, Wii Party, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, a revamped GoldenEye, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, the 3DS, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Nintendogs + Cats, and a slew of partnerships for 3DS
games all made their debut in the hour - and - a-half showcase, with Epic Mickey, Metroid: Other
M, Just Dance 2, and Dragon Quest IX also
being shown.
Just announced during Nintendo Direct last week, Hyrule Warriors — still a working title —
shows that Nintendo
are keen to outsource development of spin - offs from their core stable of franchises, with this
game having a large focus on combat compared to traditionally puzzle - centric
Zelda games.
after Wind Waker Nintendo
showed their fans, that they
were listening by creating Twilight Princess, which pretty much
was nothing but a
Zelda game, tailored to fit the fans demands (without doing much more) This somehow
showed me, that we should just lean back and see what Nintendo's cooking for us.
Waiting eagerly for Bayo2 and X,
Zelda ofcourse also but that'll likely take more then a year from now to release, as N States they won't
show Zelda U until this e3 in June, it
's pretty obvious the
game is nowhere close near finalization and so won't come until 2015.
The other thing it has going for it
is that Mario
is more mainstream than
Zelda and while there have
been many people who have sneered at the high praise it has received deep down inside all of us
gamers Mario taking away the top spot at any awards
show (even if it
was undeserving.)
The Legend of
Zelda: Twilight Princess, that
Zelda game that almost everyone remembers causing a phenomenal reaction to its debut
showing at E3 2004,
is out now in HD!
Zelda Twilight Princess HD
was well - received among Wii U
gamers and
showed that Tantalus
was capable of handling a big project for a company like Nintendo.
But hands down, Legends
is a fantastic improvement and that with the first one, together they do a brilliant job of
showing us what this Dynasty meets
Zelda game can become and gives us hope for a series that won't just stop at 2
games.
While Nintendo certainly focused on The Legend of
Zelda: Breath of The Wild,
games like Pokemon Sun and Moon, Mario Party: Star Rush, and Paper Mario: Color Splash
were also on Nintendo's schedule to
show to the people.
While Super Mario Odyssey may not have had the same focus The Legend of
Zelda: Breath of the Wild got when at E3 last year, the old plumber has still proven himself to
be a fit with
gamers the world over as his newest adventure went on to land 3 awards, which includes «Best of
Show» for E3.
Zelda was on the sheet of paper at the financial meeting last week, Iwata says they
are showing off
games that
are near completion at E3, they
are showing off
Zelda, put 2 and 2 together.
Recent details
shows what
gamers might
be in for and an insight to the main antagonist in The Legend of
Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
What appeared to
be a new
Zelda game was also
shown; we grabbed a few shots, have a look here.
Upon entering the
show floor, the obvious
game to make a beeline for
was clear: The Legend of
Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
- the developers had to find way to convey the story in a way that didn't restrict players» freedom - they came up with this system of «watching a cutscene = Link regains a lost memory» - when you
're gathering those «Memories», the cutscenes
are shown without any context - this makes you wonder what happened (especially if you haven't seen them all)- a great advantage of that Memories system
is that you can rewatch the cutscenes at any time, as many times as you want - the Sheikah Slate conveniently lists them in chronological order - Princess
Zelda has two main roles in the
game - The Princess who Seals (
Zelda's traditional role, as seen in previous
Zelda games)- The Princess who Researches (ways to stop Calamity Ganon,
Zelda's new role)- taking those two roles into consideration, the image of «The Princess that can not use her sealing powers»
was born.
Exzap, who
is working on the Cemu Emulator that will essentially make it possible to play
Zelda: Breath of the Wild on a PC, has posted a video
showing how the
game currently runs using the emulator.
The trailer
shows off
Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the one
game we knew
was coming to Nintendo Switch as well as Wii U, but also showcases Skyrim, an enhanced version of Mario Kart 8 (King Boo character and the ability to hold two items instead of just one), Splatoon and NBA 2K17.
The commercial will essentially
be a Nintendo Switch promo reel,
showing off all of the console's capabilities along with the variety of
games that will
be coming out for it, such as ARMS, Splatoon 2, The Legend of
Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Ultimate Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers.
Still more awesome titles
were shown, such as the Legend of
Zelda game we all knew
was coming.
Paper Mario Splashing Into Retail This Year Despite having quite a small
showing at E3 this year Nintendo still managed to
show off some
games that aren't called
Zelda.
On this week

More footage of Hyrule Warriors
was shown plus interviews with various developers working on the
game, including
Zelda and Dynasty Warriors stalwarts.
Deviating from the Breath of the Wild trend, Tiegen instead
showed herself playing what
's likely the only other Switch
game of the year that could rival the
Zelda entry: Super Mario Odyssey.
I very much enjoyed
Zelda at E3 2016 and I did state multiple times it
was the best
game I had experienced at the
show.
That would
be a perfect console seller, and as statistics have
shown, Mario
games sell consoles even more so than
Zelda games.
With the brief glimpse of the
game we
were shown at E3, it would seem that The Legend of
Zelda on Wii U
is quite a ways away from its nebulous 2015 release.
Everything else
is a series of parodies and references to a number of retro
game franchises — such as Metal Gear, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of
Zelda and many more — as well as TV
shows and movies from the»80s and»90s.
While Skyrim's map size, although pretty big,
is by no means the biggest world in
games, the fact that so far only about 1 % of the Legend of
Zelda Breath of the Wild map has
been shown in demos and gameplay footage speaks volumes.
Over the following weeks I'll
be examining individual facets of Breath of the Wild's
game design and narrative design, situating it in the unique — and insular —
game design lineage of the
Zelda franchise, and
showing how the new
game's content emerges from the effects of a single additional constraint: the desire to transcend Skyward Sword's functionally - isolated wilderness segments.
My purpose
is to try and reveal both the essential aspects of what makes
Zelda what it
is — and why that
is so influential — and to apply the
game design lineages method of historical analysis to
Zelda in order to
show how the conservation of player practices, the influence of material constraints, and the subversion of expectations through creator vision have all affected the path of this venerable franchise.
The
game demos available at the
show will
be The Legend of
Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
On Tuesday, June 14th, we
were shown a trailer for the new upcoming
Zelda title, The Legend of
Zelda: Breath of the Wild followed by an entire day
show casing various gameplay elements the
game has to offer.
No
games since
were linked like the Oracle titles, but other
games in the series, namely Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures,
show that Nintendo
is not done using the
Zelda series to try out new concepts to
show players a good time.
