When I finally got my hands on the game, I wasn't disappointed; I found the gameplay loop intensely satisfying and thought that The Legend of
Zelda series helped spice up the typical Warriors - like Musou formula.
Not exact matches
Pieces of Heart have
helped players in The Legend of
Zelda series forever, and A Link Between worlds is no exception.
It also has several tracks that bear a strange similarity to music from Ocarina of Time, which does nothing to
help separate it from the
Zelda series.
Its story mode is made more interesting by hefty
helpings of
Zelda series fan service, but the battles will still follow the same well - trodden beats.
Metroid Prime for it's time was jaw - droppping, DKC returns is awesome as well, i think they can add a new flavor that will
help the
Zelda series as a whole, evolve even more.
The detailed, more colorful environments
help to reflect the light - hearted tone of the
Zelda series, even if Majora's Mask is a moodier game.
I think the art style
helped to capture the essence of
Zelda games being part of an
series of legends so to speak.
Earth Defense Force 2025 does provide a good bit of variety in its enemies, though I couldn't
help but see the jumping spider enemies as Tektites from The Legend of
Zelda series.

The atmosphere was one of village fete more than sweaty game show (something
helped by the offering of
Zelda - themed cake and plastic cups of orange squash), a fitting celebration of a game
series that is more about the wonder of childhood discovery than how many polygons it pushes.
