The fact that rival Android phones like the ZTE Axon 7 snap better photos and includes dual stereo speakers at a cheaper price means you have other options you should consider — at least until the Asus Zenfone 3
Zoom rights this camera's wrongs.

The pan / tilt /
zoom feature gives the
camera the ability to pan around the entire room from left to

There's a simple
zoom bar
right on the screen, that's easy to use, as well as a panoramic
camera option to the left of the
camera icon.
The

zoom right down into the game and there's a surprising amount of detail to be found at that level.
This immediately snaps the
camera to
right behind your character, so you don't have to manually
zoom it in
I mainly used the orbital 3rd person
camera, it can be tricky to get used to as you use a combination of the
right stick to move the
camera around, the left stick up and down to
zoom and the d - pad to switch from cab and trailer view points, but once you get the hang of it you'll be well away, using it to check that your wheels aren't over hanging the narrow road you're on etc..
Importantly, the
camera is
zoomed right out, so your character is a tiny spec amid a dark, desolate landscape.

right hand corner of the ZenFone 3

What's interesting is that Asus has placed dedicated
camera functionalities, such as when you open
camera app, the volume rocker keys turn into
Zoom - in and
Zoom - out buttons, while there is a red button on the
right edge that lets you start recording directly in the default mode while there is physical shutter button as well.
Some may not like the taste of ZenUI and some of its
camera modes don't yield the quality that it advertises, but the Zenfone 3
Zoom gets much more
right than it does wrong.
After opening the
camera app, I could
zoom in 2x by just tapping a button on screen; then I could press and hold the same button and drag my finger to the
right to
zoom up to 10x.
On the bottom left perimeter are the easily confusable microUSB and mini HDMI jacks (thankfully, Motorola clearly labeled each); on the
right perimeter are the red
camera shutter key and the toggle that handles both volume and
camera zoom.
The
camera supports up to 8X digital
zoom for photos and you get access to settings by just swiping
right from the edge of the
camera.
Both
zooming and optical image stabilization (OIS) are controlled by a miniaturized array of motorized parts surrounding the
camera, so the second - generation Pixel can
zoom by adjusting the lenses from front to back, while the whole array is shifted to the left,
right, up, or down by a motorized mechanism to offset
camera shake and other common problems which often lead to lacking clarity in photos and videos.
