In her variable edition, Endless Outcomes, Campbell developed an «arrested mobile» using handmade paper, with embedded strings and shaped color components encapsulated between a colored base sheet and a translucent
abaca paper overlay.
Finally, a translucent sheet of
abaca paper was applied, promoting unique aspects of the papermaking process, and enabling a contrast between the portion of the work that is determined — color and string combinations — and the length of the strings, which extend below the plane, creating an effect of unknown possibility, more and more choices.
In some cases the surface has been gilded with gold leaf, in others the translucency of
the abaca paper is visible through the marks and stitches that barely hold the works together.

The exhibition was developed through an independent study graduate course at Chicago's Columbia College led by Jessica Cochran, who with co-curators Elizabeth Isakson - Dado, Hannah King, and C.J. Mace, invited more than a dozen artists to imagine new artworks to be made from
abaca and cotton
paper by graduate students at Columbia.
Watermarks were an unexpected thread in a number of works on display and lent marvelous results: Bochner's Language is not Transparent (1999)(watermarked translucent
abaca on black cotton) recalls investments in language as an artistic material and support, a proposition mirrored in the materiality of
paper; while Kentridge's Anne (2009)(watermarked cotton) is displayed in a lightbox illuminating its normally discreet surface.

Linen, cotton,
abaca, pigments, water, and methyl cellulose: since 1976 a small, non-profit
paper studio in New York City has empowered some of the most influential artists of the day to experiment with these and other papermaking materials.
