The mission of the German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue Group of Colorado is to take in purebred German Shorthaired Pointers that are in shelters, whose owners no longer
want them, or that have become lost and
abandoned, and to place them in permanent
pet homes and to help provide a safe harbor for German Shorthaired Pointers that might otherwise be destroyed.
Feral cats are the offspring of lost or
abandoned pet cats or other feral cats; they don't typically
want to interact with people.

We
want to help families keep their
pets instead of these
pets becoming
abandoned or turned over to shelters and dog pounds.
If you
want to encourage safe adoptions, you shouldn't be advocating rehoming fees (which are nothing more than false security and basically a way for the owners to feel better about themselves for
abandoning their
pets).
We try to set the right expectations about anything that we know about the
pet before you adopt (dogs / puppies need training and possibly housebreaking, separation anxiety is possible in dogs
abandoned at shelters, puppies tend to cry the first few days, dogs / puppies need regular exercise to be good dogs, etc...) but if you are experiencing a problem, we
want to help you fix it.
Millions of these
pets are taken to shelters or
abandoned when they get sick or are no longer
wanted.
If people really
want to help the animals, aside from donating items, they should spay or neuter their
pets, keep track of them, and never
abandon them.
Unfortunately, when
pet owners realize that chihuahuas are fragile, or require more attention than the
pet owners can, or
want to provide, they sometimes
abandon the dogs, often in the way that we believe our dog was
abandoned, by leaving them at the end of a cul de sac or in fields in rural areas.
