I never blogged
about it when
Ava weaned, but that milestone occurred almost four months after my post.
Of course I have been and still am anxious
about a lot of it — traveling by myself, leaving my kids for three nights (for the first time ever since
Ava was born), being unsure
about what to wear (are cute shoes a must?)
So, in an effort to gauge
Ava's thoughts on the matter, I mentioned to her that I have been thinking
about home schooling next year.
We talked a lot
about what was going on in my life, how things are going with two kids, and more specifically
about what was going on with me and my reactions to
Ava.
Before Julian was born we talked a lot with
Ava about how he would be a little baby and need a lot of mama milk to grow up big and strong like his big sister.
I usually shower
about 4 - 5 times a week for 5 minutes or less each time, but this week, because we actually had somewhere to go every morning (
Ava's swimming lessons), I found myself showering every day.
It was
about that time that daddy got home, so he came in and proceeded to brush
Ava's teeth, then took Julian downstairs so I could finish putting
Ava to bed.
Ava already talks
about how she will go out and collect the eggs every day.
When I became pregnant with my son, my daughter
Ava was
about 20 months old and still nursing regularly.
I beat myself over and over
about it — but ultimately, it's got to be a right fit for not just
Ava — but the entire family.

When I was preparing for my daughter
Ava's birth, there were a lot of uncertainties
about what motherhood would have in store for me, but there was one thing I knew for certain — I would breastfeed.
One of the ways I prepared
Ava for what would happen was by reading «Welcome With Love,» a beautiful children's book
about natural childbirth.
They all came out on the stage for
about 30 seconds at the end, but by that time I was holding a tired and very much ready to leave
Ava (Jody had been walking around with a tired, cranky Julian for the entire rally) and was unable to get a shot off.
As my daughter
Ava gets a little older, I hope to teach her
about what I'm doing in the kitchen and have her help me so that cooking and eating fresh seems exciting to her.
I wish I could be more open on my blog, my 4.5 year old weaned around the time your
Ava did and while we celebrated a bit at home, I didn't make a big deal on the blog because I was worried
about negative comments and just wasn't up for it.

about nursing (Breastmilk Makes My Tummy Yummy) contains a picture of a mom nursing a toddler and a baby and states: «Two can breastfeed without fuss, there is room for both of us.»
I was talking with a friend
about breastfeeding recently and she observed that since
Ava only nurses once per day (before bed) that I'm not really tandem nursing, and she's right.
He had slowly dropped off, just like
Ava, and by the time he was 4, it was down to
about every other night.
Of course I started crying when I told her
about how
Ava reacted and she could sense my guilt and sorrow at what I'd done.
Since I had this live insurance rep on the phone, after we finished talking
about my home birth claim I had another question (one I've been trying to get answered for two weeks)
about coverage for
Ava.
I got through
about seven calls before
Ava came to the backdoor and started yelling — while I was in the middle of a call, of course.
It's too much to talk
about all that here, so I will limit my discussion to how
Ava, the robot, seduces and basically destroys Caleb, who was chosen by Nathan, his employer, to interact with her to see if she passes the Turing test, which examines if a machine has consciousness and is indistinguishable from a human.
Ava continued to go to the part - time school she attends one day a week and continued with the Lego engineering class she was already signed up for, but that was
about the extent of it.
I can't wait to get to «know» him as he grows and here all
about how him and
Ava get along.
I could have sworn I wrote a blog post
about deciding to start home schooling
Ava this past fall, but wouldn't you know it, I can't find it.
