As a parent who regularly speaks with other parents and individuals
about education in New Orleans I can tell you we have questions and concerns
about a bill recently passed to transfer
NOLA charter schools from the Recovery School District to the Orleans Parish School Board.

Recovery School District superintendent Patrick Dobard agreed to hear her questions, and Bigard began by expressing concern
about discipline policies as Walter L. Cohen High School is transformed into a charter school operated by
NOLA College Prep.
I think she likes getting interviewed, likes speaking on forums, and likes being invited to talk
about how evil
NOLA charters are in places like Nashville and Milwaukee.
Further, the
NOLA system means that if you don't like your child's school you're less likely to have a way to do something
about it, because the charters are often run by private boards and management companies, many of which aren't based in New Orleans or even based in Louisiana.
