We've already talked

You don't have to transfer miles or
book complicated
award flights, and you can redeem your miles toward any
flight or hotel without having to worry
about award blackouts or restrictions.
In that case, you can
book the exact
flight you want without worrying
about award availability, and you will even earn redeemable miles with the airline for your
flight.
The last three or four times I've gone to make
award bookings using Avios for American
flights has me
about ready to throw in the towel.
