I pretty much follow the recipe, however I give it the California twist of
about 1/4 C oat
bran and 1/4 C ground flax seed.

bran and germ, which are
about 10 - 15 % of the whole kernel, and contain many nutrients in rice, are removed in the milling process.
I used 1 c. white flour, 1/2 cup wheat
bran, a handful of oats just for kicks, and
about 2/3 cup.
Gluten - free oat

I don't know enough
about beer grains to know if they'd work but if they seem similar to you to the
bran, no reason not to give it a spin.
The actual cooking time will vary based on your stove or the size of your pan, but for me, it takes
about 10 minutes for the
bran to fully heat through and smell sightly nutty.

bran to wheat germ replacement made mi think — as far as I know they have significantly different properties.
Guess the only thing I wonder
about is the nutritional info as germ has more calories & protein, but less carbs than
bran.
