I am NOT talking
about jams / jellies you buy at the grocery store — while I'm sure there are absolutely exceptions, most jams / jellies are packed with an insane amount of
crazy ingredients and tons of unnecessary added sugar.
But these days, I do tend to stick with
ingredients that I can pronounce, and I'm not
crazy about feeding preservatives and additives to my family when I can avoid it.
That's why one jar lasts you
about 6 months so this makes it also more economical as you don't need to go out and buy
crazy ingredients just for one use.
If you're not
crazy about all of the
ingredients, feel free to modify them as you desire.
If you're not
crazy about the licorice flavor of star anise (which is in both Chinese 5 - spice and the alternative Szechuan seasoning I recommended) I think you could omit that
ingredient all together for a more delicate flavor experience.
Although he's not
crazy about some of my alternative
ingredients he is open to trying them.
Since discovering you can buy pumpkin puree in the UK (Tesco & Waitrose both stock it) I have been
crazy about baking with this
ingredient.
As much as I love almond milk on or in breakfast, I'm not

crazy about the corn meal and would prefer to see it farther down the
ingredient list.
