As the owner of an
ebook and ereader blog that is heavily invested in research into the tablet industry, I would advise windows tablet purchasers to wait
about a year before buying to give
software developers and microsoft the chance to work the bugs out as well as the price to come down to the point it appeals to mainstream consumers rather than early adopters.
Buying books directly from Txtr on your tablet, PC, Mac, or phone will save you tons of headaches
about different
ebook formats and using advanced

about the reading habits of its users — and sends it back to the company in a format that's easy for others to slurp.

about ebooks opened on the computer were noted and later sent back to Adobe corporate servers in unencrypted form.

I'm mostly a print guy, and have no particular expertise in EPUB or other

software standards and better interpreters on the hardware end will make a huge difference
about how we can design these books.
Because of the way Kobo's
software formats
ebooks, there's
about 3/8» of dead space at the top for a bar to display the title of the book and 1/2» of wasted space at the bottom of the screen to display the page numbers, and depending on the particular book's formatting and font choice it can be up to 2» at the bottom.
It has a different outer case and comes installed with Kobo's
ebook software and 100 classics, along with Bluetooth, but the hardware is from a Netronix design that is several years old, so there's not much to get excited
about except the low price and new exterior design.
One thing I've noticed
about the
software on these Android - powered Boyue
ebook readers is that the operating system seems to run a little smoother than Onyx's Android ereaders.

About the DRM - free part: I bought Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on Pottermore Shop yesterday and here's what I found: sending the book to my Amazon and Barnes & Noble.com accounts was fairly simple — and I was quickly able to read the book on my Kindle Fire, first - gen Nook 3G, and the Nook app on my Android phone. However, when I downloaded the epub file to my PC I found I couldn't read it using either the free Calibre ereader
software (which told me «This file is locked by DRM») or Adobe Digital Editions, which Pottermore Shop actually recommends for reading its Harry Potter ebooks. When I attempted to read the
ebook in Adobe Digital Editions I got a pop - up box telling me «Document is licensed for a different user account».
There is no need to worry
about any of these, however: your
ebook conversion
software will create all these parts automatically.
In more disheartening news, Microsoft appears to be reentering the
ebook market as a partner to the much talked
about Blio
software.
