For me, my fateful meeting with the unfamiliar brussels
sprout (I didn't really eat it
growing up) was
about 5 years ago at SPQR Restaurant in San Francisco.
You can
grow your own daikon
sprouts at home, which is a very simple process that usually takes
about 5 days (
sprouting time can vary a lot according to humidity and temperature conditions).
It's easy to get started
growing their own
sprouts, and it's also a great way to teach them
about making healthy eating choices and
about knowing where our food comes from.
I also tried to
grow it and it does
sprout in
about 48 hours.
The mung beans took
about 3 days longer to
sprout then lentils typically take and their tails didn't
grow as long as lentil tails do... but they still turned out nice and crisp!

I
grew up in the 50's and 60's and
about the only fresh green thing we had in the winter was iceberg lettuce (well, except for brussel
sprouts and cabbage; we won't go there because my mother was in the «cook it until it disintegrates» school of culinary practice).

grow, then cress (from rhe Innocent set) or some radish
grow fast and well on a windowsill, or even some
sprouting seeds or microgreens.
How
