have no more knowledge
about the so - called rebirth, the new
birth out of
Water and Spirit which is the sacramental baptism (please consider that also Protestants believe in sacraments; I am a Lutheran).

have two - way conversations with invisible spirits, you think the earth is 10,000 years old, you believe the world was once covered in
water (
about 5,000 years ago), you believe your invisible sky father came to earth in human form after a virgin
birth, then rose as a zombie, from the dead, then ascended into an invisible sky city... all because the first people on earth ate and apple before proceeding on with decades of incest... am I getting this?»
Initially, I
had planned a
water birth at birthing center
about 1 hr.
Nothing
about this post surprises me, except that the dangers of
water birth have been known — and passed over — for some time now.
My
birth was nothing like I
had hoped, labored in bed on my back because they couldn't monitor the babies if I moved,
had to
have pitocin and later an epidural (I could stand the pitocin, it was the fact that no one does a breach delivery any more that, just in case Twin B didn't turn after Twin A was born), puking in the operating room because I couldn't even
have a single drop of
water on my tongue while laboring strapped down (talk
about understanding what hell is like!)
While I was pregnant I was going on all the time
about how terrible it was and how I was going to
have a
water birth and then exclusively breast feed.
It is important to ask
about the availability of the
water birth at the hospital you are planning to go to and to ask any questions
about giving
birth in
water; you may find it useful to find out how many women choose to
have water births at the hospital, how many staff are trained to deal with
water births and find out
about the potential risks of giving
birth in the
water.
If you are
having a home
water birth, you need to take some practical considerations into account; for example, you need to think
about the space you
have available for the pool and make sure you
have a floor which is solid enough to take the weight of the pool when it is filled with
water.
I
had really hoped for a
water birth as I
had with Henry, but there was much concern
about the floors in our apartment (in a very old building) not being able to hold the weight.
If you
have decided that
water birth is the method for you, or are simply still curious
about how the process works, look no further.
My 4 year old
has just started asking questions
about his
birth family and I'm treading new
waters and feeling cautious.
I
had a drug - free midwife - assisted
birth (although it was in a hospital, and not in
water)
about 6 weeks after you.
I think to be fair it should begin in Europe where we lay in bed many nights talking
about having a midwife in the United States and starting to look at
water birth experiences.
Though my gynecologist
had chuckled a bit when I asked
about making a
birth plan (oh, silly me for wanting to
have some choice in the matter), she failed to mention that I
would be bound to the bed after my
water broke, or that I
would only be allowed to um, poop, in a bedpan.

Especially if your are giving
birth in
water at the hospital or at the birthing center make sure to talk with your midwife
about all the process as there are some rules and regulations they
have to follow during
water births.

has been very understanding

This may take the form of glasses of
water, foot massages, bringing you up a meal, holding the baby whilst you
have a shower, talking over the
birth experience, postnatal exercises, chatting
about baby names, offering you the evidence for episiotomy or scar healing and much more.
You
've convinced me
about home
birth and
water birth, but you
have yet to give me any good reason to support immediate cord clamping as a norm.
Both of them fell in love with the
birth process after going through it themselves with their first littles, and now between the two of them
have experienced hospital
birth,
water birth (at All
About Babies, of course), home

water broke at 18weeks, no im 27weeks and 5days and in the hospital, alot of people here are telling me differnt things
about breastfeeding like «its going to be hard because your going to be a month and a half early» some say «your milk will come though within 72 hours after
birth» and so on...
Has anyone gone though an early
birth and
had problems breastfeeding?
Its comforting to know im not the only one, I was set to be induced with my fifth child on jan 1, went to hospital at 5 am, put on pittosin at 6, dialed slowly, and
had painful contractions, Dr broke my
water at 11, contractions even more painful, got the epidural at 12, labor did not progress, was dialated 3 cm all day, @ 8 pm,, Dr took me off pittosin for an hour to see if I
would progress if we started over again, at 9 they hooked me up again, all night and just progressed to a 4, that next morning, still nothing, finally Dr said we need to do a c section, since my
water was broken earlier the previous day, he was worried
about infection, finally went to operating rm, it was so cold, I was shaking and crying, I was so scared, btw my previous 4 children were vaginal
births, I felt so guilty, thinking it was my fault my labor did nt progress.Finally I
had her, when the Dr held her up for me to see, I started bawling, she was perfect, it was very emotional, she weighed 6 lb 4oz and 18in, Im very proud of her, and myself
We talked
about water birth and I told them how appreciative I was to
have had the birthing tub available because it was instrumental in coping with the pain.
The researchers
have shared their findings with a group that is developing a clinical bulletin designed to inform health care providers
about the practice of
water birth in both hospital and out - of - hospital settings.
