program is that it's managed to survive not one, not two, but three administrative changes in less than ten years, as well as quite a bit of principal turnover.
The
program is currently being piloted in the Highline
School District where prior to the pilot only
about 30 percent of students at Midway Elementary
School were eating
breakfast — now they are serving 80 - 90 percent of the students daily.
About 1000
schools will be awarded funds ($ 500 - $ 5000) to support

breakfast has been implemented, and Lilly's enthusiasm was clear: «We're excited to be part of the
program and to see the benefits for the children.
The great news
about school breakfast is that it's gaining momentum; each year we see more
schools and districts seeking to implement or expand
school breakfast programs.
To fight chronic absenteeism the district is creating
programs that get kids excited
about school, like adult mentors who eat
breakfast with students, and offering targeted help based on the problems each student is facing.
In fact, in April 2017,
about 300,000 low - income children did not receive
school breakfast, despite being eligible for and already enrolled in the
program.
