In years of writing
about homeless people, and homeless dogs, and homeless people with homeless dogs, it's something I've noticed.
I was listening to a radio programme
about homeless people and one woman — educated and well - spoken — described how she'd ended up living on the streets of London.
I watch newscasts
about homeless people here and abroad, about war torn countries where people are slaughtered or sold into slavery, about children who are born with aids and die before they have a chance to live, about victims of earthquakes in China, orphanages, starving children, disease, and the list goes on and on and on.

That contrasts with the tech industry's often fractious relationship to its host communities in the Bay Area, where newly minted multimillionaires have been known to buy residents out of their homes on the spot and complain to municipalities

Back in 2012, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan stated that it costs
about $ 40,000 a year to fund a
homeless person, with the costs of shelters, emergency room visits, and jails being factored.
But what
about thanking the
homeless people who come to the shelter where you volunteer?
That is what religion is
about, teaching
people to be generous to others, feed the sick or hurt or
homeless, treating others like you want to be treated, being honest, kind, loving, and generous.
I believe that its important to see inner wisdom and the council of friends and wise and knowledgeable
people... but God, if he / she exists created us — right... oh yes w / brains... we should be honoring that by using them... I can imagine if God exists every day he is saying to himself / herself «why do
people keep asking me for things I have not control over, or really could care less
about (
people are asking for a new shinny house to replace their perfectly fine house while millions are
homeless around the world, hungry, sick, etc.)... why are they not using the gifts and skills they have».
Mainline churches looking to retain and attract young
people, particularly «
homeless» evangelicals like myself, would do well to look to Missiongathering as a model, for, at least from my perspective, they have managed to combine all that is great
about the mainline with all that is great
about evangelicalism into one faith community.
How
about the 4
people who died and hundreds who became
homeless, is that also blessing / warning from God?
The really bad thing
about what they're doing is that it takes resources away from those who really need them, the real
homeless people, and gives cash to a guy who is pulling down $ 60K annually by posing as
homeless.
I volunteer at a
homeless NPO and as much as I enjoyed the first part of the post, I do not agree with leaving bible verses and the implication of forgetting
about sharing Jesus out completely... I understand the reasoning and that
people have been hurt, but to leave Jesus out of the equation unless they ask doesn't sit well with me.
Major Allman told Premier
about the kind of work the charity was doing back then: «It was very much seeing
people who were
homeless and sleeping on the streets and finding dormitory style accommodation.»
«The notion that religious
people should be
about feeding the poor and helping the
homeless is a carryover of the Social Gospel,» says Charles Kammer, a religion professor at Wooster College in Ohio.
Sin is when we choose not to see that everyone is our neighbor, that we are all connected, that the
homeless guy on the corner needs food, and the poor of Iran need food, and here we sit complaining
about our jobs being outsourced overseas, as if some woman making shirts in Bangladesh is a lesser
person than an American woman.
The
homeless and penniless on the streets and in the parks seem to know more
about the grace of God and the love of Jesus than do most
people in our churches!

homeless and Jesus (some dislike churches and Christians, others are Jesus followers, but most like Jesus), and one
about observations the
homeless make to us
about the
people who show up on their turf to «minister» to them (whose attitudes range from condescension, which is very common, to love, which is very uncommon).

So many
people profess to be concerned
about the
homeless it's a wonder that there is any problem left.
The wife is overly guilty
about being a parasite and compensates by giving
homeless people twenties and trying to volunteer to help out the unfortunate.
The movie also spends generous attention on
homeless people, some of whom are neatly sketched, and includes lines
about the urgent need to help the
homeless.
They don't give 2 chits
about starving kids, or
homeless old
people... But they do take time out of their busy schedules to whine
about how oppressed they are, which is also fantastic, and helps society tremendously.
@ jay — the next time i see a
homeless old
person i'll make sure to give up my one dollar that i was going to spend on soda because if the christians don't care
about them then we are pretty much doomed, i mean the
homeless old
people because nobody else out there cares.
I walked into a church one and saw allot of gold and silver all over the place in the church and outside the church was a dunkin donuts and there was a
homeless man that used to come in all the time no one used to help this
homeless man and most of the
people that went to this dunkin donuts were from the church the older
people used to talk bad
about the
homeless man and they would continue to talk
about the man behind the
homeless mans back when they would go to the church, to me that right there is part of the seven deadly sins Gossip allot of churches do this.
Pastor Truax used the incident to challenge the congregation: Could church members let
homeless people sleep right underneath their noses and not do something
about it?
By all means, if I find any youth - at - risk with a computer at home, prisoner with Internet rights,
homeless that frequent the public library internet system, or a mentally disordered
person that are allowed the Internet by the county's out - patient facility... then by all means, I will mention to them
about the free (NakedPastor) site.
About 300
homeless people are living in the tunnels and drain system underneath Las Vegas, surviving off of the excess and garbage created by those above ground.
Therefore, deep down, we are the
people who are comforted; and we are the last refuge for the
homeless people who do not know anything
about the Lord anymore... May we impart the goodness.
On Saturday, I have church in a park downtown with
about 10 - 20 other believers and 150 - 200
homeless people.

about us.
Homeless people frequently tell me that, so I didn't think much
about it.
I also labeled a few bags and set them just outside of the trash area at the apartment complex (I went back and forth
about this, but in the end I would see the same few
homeless people going through and picking out bottles / cans every morning and I thought maybe they would appreciate a few boxes of [good] snacks and if not it was right there and could go out with the trash.
The last air - raid warning of the war was sounded on March 28th 1945 (the European war ended on May 8th), but

As the debate headed towards its conclusion, a young woman in the audience stood up and started shouting
about money going on the army when
