Officials who make
funding decisions need a clear understanding
about the importance of certified school librarians and the school

While there are budgetary priorities that need to be advocated for in Washington DC, there are many states that lack complementary definitions in state statute

libraries and librarians, as well as many states and Local Education Agencies (LEA) that have not been in the habit of
funding programs or positions because there was no compelling reason in the law to do so.

libraries that will do two critical things: fix the
funding formula to finally include accountability for school
library spending, and require reporting and transparency by the OSPI
about how they actually spend dedicated school
