The OHS has received an outpouring of demand and support for this new service, with many
community members eager to book appointments for their
cats, and many also curious to learn more
about how this
program works, specifically, what happens during a typical day aboard the mobile clinic.
Our goal is to modify the wording in the current regulation so that «
Cats» will be removed from the regulation and incorporate wording
about the implementation of a Trap - Neuter - Return
program throughout the state of Alaska along with the addition of the term «
Community Cats.»
While, in the past,
communities were upset and concerned
about feral
cat populations, the trap - neuter - return return
program has calmed those fears because the
cat population is not growing and these
cats are getting vaccinated.

Cat Initiative The NYC Feral
Cat Initiative (NYCFCI), a
program of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, supports the efforts of organizations and individuals who work to help stray and feral
cats — collectively known as «
community cats» — and perform Trap - Neuter - Return (TNR) in New York City.
To ensure that more
community cats stay safe in their outdoor homes, we recommended enacting an eartip protection policy, utilizing Alley
Cat Allies educational materials, loaning traps only for TNR, training staff to inform the public
