My parents were given a choice: because I had a disability, I could be treated as a gifted student, eligible for the «mini-
schools» at two
of the twenty or so
schools in the district, or be treated as a disabled student, eligible for «special learning» in «the trailers» at my high
school; I was the only student to that point who was thrown
out of the special learning
program for reading books at a far - too - advanced level; When I was dismissed, I was reading John Locke's Second Treatise on Government, a book
about medieval castle battlement defenses, and (all at the same
time) a book called «You can trust a communist — to be a communist».

High
school juniors who are accepted into the
program spend 4 - 6 weeks at our clinic observing, helping
out, and learning
about the profession, and during their
time here they complete a project
of their own design.
So, they have individual sessions themselves in the academic track but then part
of what they baked into the
programming was actually going
out and attending sessions that are relevant to law
schools and faculty, and talking to vendors in the hall and really getting a better feel for what practice management means and why it's so important to start teaching in law
school because as we all know they don't, and as a whole, I mean, there is obviously a few
schools that do, but as a whole it's not part
of a standard curriculum and they are very excited
about that and they even have one co-session that they are doing with the incubator consortium that's being held at the exact same
time.
