about peak brightness, as some believe.

This burst revealed some new things
about these phenomena — namely, that the biggest ones
peak in
brightness far from the star that triggers them.
The
peak absolute luminosity appears to be
about 50,000 times the luminosity of the Sun, but the largest percentage of known open clusters has a
brightness equivalent to 500 solar luminosities.
The new study led by Rest in Nature Astronomy describes a supernova from data captured by Kepler's extended mission, called K2, that reaches its
peak brightness in just a little over two days,
about 10 times less than others take.
But for the Xoom the
Peak Brightness is systematically slowly lowered from 408 cd / m2 down to
about 60 percent of
Peak and then it just stops and remains constant at 257 cd / m2.
For 2017, LG improved
peak brightness by
about 20 percent, improved the lowest part of the black range, adding more subtle gradients for better shadow detail, changed the anti-reflective screen coating so that the display looks deep black when turned off (instead of casting a purple hue as LG's OLEDs have in prior years), and reduced input lag down to
about 21ms.
For Cinema settings, this means the TV will max out at
about 540 nits, though the TV is capable of higher
peak brightness in Vivid and Standard picture modes.
This one is no different:
peak brightness, contrast, color accuracy, color gamut, sharpness — it leads the pack in just
about every metric.
Many HDR sets have a backlight system that can output
about 1,000 nits
peak brightness or greater, whereas standard HDTVs typically only output 100 nits, which is the level that Blu - ray and standard TV content is specified to.
Stratospheric prices; lower
peak brightness than some LCD sets, uncertainty
about how screens will fare over time, including whether they will retain «ghost» images (also known as burn - in) from displaying a static picture for too long.
