We talk to the founder
about Pit Bull advocacy.
Not exact matches
Part of our
advocacy efforts includes educating the public on various aspects of living with dogs, with or without disabilities, to encourage adoption, especially of these ostracized breeds that are in great numbers in shelters everywhere due to overpopulation and the bans on
pit bulls (read more
about Breed - Specific Legislation and other BS discrimination).
Indeed,
pit bull advocacy, because it erodes public trust in dogs and people who care
about dogs, stands a good chance of superseding rabies as the single greatest threat to the health, well - being, and human appreciation of all dogs worldwide.
Since
pit bulls are often victims of dog fighting and negative stereotypes, you can help improve their lot by dispelling myths
about them through social media, letters to the editor, and other forms of
advocacy.
A few examples include: • a pro-
pit bull PSA with the TB Lightning (see video below) • the presence of
pit bull ambassadors at our Critter Camp, children's birthday parties, community outreach events, and special events • promotional videos crafted to spotlight
pit bulls at our events (see videos below) • feature stories
about pit bulls on our blog, social media and in our quarterly newsletter that are aimed at
advocacy and education
While animal
advocacy groups were conspicuously silent
about the 10th anniversary of the Vick bust and the mayhem following since then, Maddie's Fund, a leading player in
pit bull advocacy, on April 26, 2017 issued a media release celebrating the 30th birthday of the mini-schnauzer Maddie, for whom software entrepreneurs Dave and Cheryl Duffield renamed their private foundation after Maddie's death in 1997.
