My favorite way to keep
points alive is by transferring either AMEX Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards to accounts that are
about to expire because as long as you transfer just 1
point then that is enough to reset the
expiration clock.

points and miles in one place you'll notice a column that has their
expiration date (if applicable) and you will also receive email notifications when your
points are
about to expire.
If you have Marriott
points that are
about to expire, this will also extend the
expiration of your
points.

points to at a good value.

about Avianca is that it's Citi TYP's first alliance partner with a deferrable
expiration policy, so it's a place you can safely «park»
points if you need to (say, if cancelling a Citi TYP card, which will cause
points earned on that card, even if transferred to another card, to expire in 60 days).
IHG does not explicitly state was does and does not qualify as account activity, but data
points suggest that just
about anything that increases or decreases your account balance will extend your
expiration date 12 months.
